Before you venture into the treasure trove of goodies from the Vizjak farm , get to know our family.

The first generation of the Vizjaks lived under the edge of a beech forest, in a small house with a barn next to it, both facing the road that led to the main square in Šmarje. This was in the 1930s, starting with great-grandfather Baltazar...

Our beekeeping recently celebrated a quarter of a century of existence. Working with bees was first loved by Matic, who enthusiastically kept bees with his godfather and in the beekeeping club at the Šmarje Elementary School. Soon he received his first hive for his birthday and that's how it began. Since he was still too young to take care of them himself, his father joined him on the beekeeping path, who today takes care of the business and has increased the number of hives to 65.

Our bees are happy bees and that means a lot to us. Father Silva loves them so much that he would give each one its own name if he could.

The family was and still is healthy and strong. The best honeys and golden pollen are always waiting on the shelf in the pantry - so that everyone in the family can remain healthy and strong farmers, which we are.

Today, we live on the farm: father Silvo Vizjak, who is a passionate beekeeper, mother Marija Vizjak, who is a mother with a capital M on our farm, Matic Vizjak, who is the family innovator and motivator, as well as Chili Frik (he is crazy about chilies in all their forms! ) and the creator of more than 10 different chili sauces. He and his father create creamy honeys in classic and innovative combinations with other ingredients, and at his initiative, the First Real Chili Festival has been organized in Šmarje since 2015. He is also the recipient of the award for Slovenian innovation, the first spicy wine in the world, and the title 'Young Farmer of Slovenia 2017 and 2018'; the youngest in the family is Matic's brother Marcel Vizjak, who is currently helping as much as he can, as his most important priority is currently finishing his studies.

At VIZJAK farm, we still live and breathe with nature to this day. Werespect the environment that surrounds us and prioritise honesty. We cultivate and produce according to the principles of non-invasive farming, offering our customers only wholesome and high-quality produce and products that are, like 100 years ago, still pure, impeccable, and full of goodness from nature.

Our crops grow and breathe pure nature
We and our farming has always been closely connected to nature. We live in the countryside of Šmarje pri Jelšah, in a beautiful valley below Kalvarija, in the safe shelter of the church of St. Roko, and in the embrace of the cheerful winds from Boč. They bring us fresh, clean air and only good energy.

Every day, we wake up to the crowing of our faithful rooster Bojan. , In our immediate vicinity there is an old forest that protects us and from which a pristine stream flows past the farm,  nourishing a diverse selection of our plants and, together with the sun, gives them ideal conditions for growth.

We wholeheartedly preserve traditional methods of cultivation and still do most of the work alone by hand , but often in the company of good neighbors and friends.  Just like in the old days...

Honey, chili and wine are something special!

Beekeeping and honey crops
Our primary activity is BEEKEEPING . We have two apiaries in separate sunny locations and a total of 65 hives.

We produce different types of honey: floral, forest and chestnut . We are known for our extraordinary creamy honey , which we mix using a special process that we developed ourselves. Today, you can choose from many flavors of creamy honey (ginger, chili, with bourbon vanilla, real cocoa, cinnamon, raspberries, goji berries, hazelnuts, Amaretto flavor, etc.), and we also produce propolis and collect pollen using a traditional recipe.

Chili peppers and unique chili sauces
Homemade spicy sauces ČILI FRIK are made from several types of carefully selected chilies, vegetables, spices and fruits. They have a charismatic taste and have been a huge success since their first presentation at the chili festival in 2015. They can be used to enhance or improve the taste of many dishes.

Spicy wine
An exceptional achievement that we are extremely proud of is the white and rosé wine with a slightly spicy note. It is a pure innovation that we created by adding the 'best of the best' chilies to the wine, and presented it together with the Kolar winery in March 2017 at one of the most prestigious wine evaluations in New York. Our spicy wine received three awards: gold and two silver. The semi-sweet white conjures up a unique and special experience with a combination of top wine varieties and a touch of fresh, spicy chili aroma. It is a wine that has and offers 'something more'. The sweet rosé in a noble, delicate pink color seduces with noble yellow muscat and the unique aroma of wild forest berries.

By combining tradition and a modern vision, we cross the borders of Slovenia
Our products are popular and the demand for them is growing. One of the domestic ambassadors of innovative products and quality of taste is our 'young man', Matic Vizjak, who was awarded as the YOUNG INNOVATIVE FARMER OF SLOVENIA from the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Borut Pahor , in 2017 and 2018. President Pahor honored the family with a visit to the farm, where he also joined in harvesting home-grown organic chilies.
